As a child growing up in the Rio Grande Valley, I was surrounded by many types of trees and plants that my grandparents would grow. Papayas, mulberries, pomegranates, citrus, plantains, peaches, grapes; we had such a diverse food source that we took for granted and thought everyone grew up like that. Now, it's our turn to develop our resources. Let's learn and and grow together!

“The Hour” comes from a biblical reading where a master leaves a servant in charge of his household while away. This master will return to his household at an unknown hour and blessed will be the faithful and wise steward found doing what is right when his master returns.

Practices
We only plant heirloom and self-pollinating vegetables and grains.
We either apply manure as fertilizers or have various farm animals rotate throughout the area to be planted. (No synthetic fertilizers are used.)
Sometimes natural "castile" soaps are sprayed onto plants. (No synthetic pesticide/insecticides are used.)
We make our own composts and biochar to add onto planted rows.
Organic methods are used however we are NOT USDA certified organic.
We create our own studies for selective breeding of plant varieties that are successful in our region.
We host our own bees for pollination (and harvest honey of course)
