Practices
CD&J Mini Ranch is a Certified Naturally Grown farm. We do not use pesticides, herbicides, antibiotics, growth hormones or products that can hurt us, our animals, our environment, or the foods that we eat and the foods that our neighbor's eat. We do our best to use methods to promote soil health and minimize water use. We raise our animals humanely and with loving care.
Our proteins are processed at a USDA and State Certified butcher and we try to have our cuts done the way our customers request the most.
CD&J Mini Ranch is 35 acres outside San Benito, Texas, on Curates Lake. Here we rotate our small herd of black Angus and F2 Wagyu cows between four (4) pastures. We pasture raise our Idaho Pasture Pigs (IPP), which is a registered pig cross between the original Duroc, old Berkshire, and Kunekune breeds. The founder of the IPP’s spent years perfecting the combination to get a fast growing, friendly, and most importantly GRAZING meat pig. We also free range our chickens for the best tasting non-GMO meat and eggs that you can eat.
We have a high tunnel where we raise some of our vegetables, along with an area for corn, okra and vining fruits and vegetables. Most of our vegetables are used for freeze drying and made into sustainable products for our own use and customers. We keep an up to date cottage food license.
